Basics and Symbols: How to Play Tome of Madness
Tome of Madness from Play'n GO is a cascading slot in which you collect four or more adjacent symbols on a 5x5 grid. Whenever you manage to form such a cluster, the winning symbols are removed and new symbols fill the gaps.
Your aim is to top up the portal with winning combinations. You will be assisted by Rich Wilde and the mysterious Necronomicon, also known as the Book of Madness, both of which are wild symbols in the base game.
Behind individual fields of the game grid are eye markers for opening winning clusters. You will receive further Wild symbols as a reward.

Every time you form a winning cluster during a game round, the portal is charged and further features are activated depending on the number of symbols in a winning combination.
Charging the Portal
When the portal is charged, the two wild symbols Abyss and Void are added to the grid:
- Abyss removes all symbols in the row or column of the Special Wild,
- Void removes all pieces of a randomly selected symbol.
These symbols are also used to further charge the portal.

After a winning round with 42 symbols, the interdimensional gate opens and the free round in another world begins. Each winning cascade activates one of three portal effects: Special Wilds, Abyss or Void. The portal effects help to open eye markers. If you manage to open all of these fields with winning combinations, you activate the Mega Wild Cthulhu.
